Creative Learning Officer (Maternity cover)

Based in Edinburgh, however, opportunities for flexible and smarter working are offered.

Full time – 6 months Fixed-Term Contract– 35 hrs per week

Grade C

Salary: £34,330 pro rata plus pension and benefits

Are you passionate about helping shape the future of youth music across Scotland?  Creative Scotland is looking for a Creative Learning Officer to support the delivery of our Youth Music Initiative Formula Fund, during a maternity cover period. This role sits within the Arts, Inclusion & Communities directorate and works closely with the Youth Music Initiative Manager and local authorities across Scotland. 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Act as key contact for local authorities, organisations and individuals involved in youth music projects.  

  • Provide expert advice to support the delivery of funded projects and sector-wide initiatives.  

  • Assess funding applications and make informed recommendations.  

  • Leading on initiatives focused on sector learning and workforce development. 

  • Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to ensure impactful delivery. 

What We’re Looking For: 

Our ideal candidate will have: 

  • Proven experience of project management within the arts or public sector. 

  • A strong background in youth music, with a specific knowledge of local authority and school structures.  

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. 

  • Experience in assessing proposals and writing clear, concise reports. 

  • A solid understanding of the creative and policy context in Scotland.  

  • A clear commitment to Equalities, Diversity and Inclusion. 

Experience of managing evaluation and monitoring processes is desirable, but not essential.
